My next plant walk is scheduled for Sept. 28 in Palmyra, Va. Signup below.
We should cover at least 30 or more of the edible, medicinal and utilitarian plants of the central Virginia area. We'll ID and sample some of the edibles and discuss how to process them, ID and discuss the uses of the medicinal plants and finally, show how some of the utilitarian plants can be made into cordage, implements or used for friction fire. The walk will last 2.5 to 3 hours, it is roughly 1.0 mile long and mostly level walking. We'll meet up in Palmyra, Va. 22963 ( Fluvanna county ), at the Rail Trail, exact location and directions will be posted after signup. Class size is limited to 15 students. Handouts will be given out after class.
My background. I have studied edible and medicinal plants under Tom Brown, Living Earth School, Emerald Mt. Sanctuary, Tracks and Roots and put in an enormous amount of self study. I am a Master Naturalist and an avid forager. I have led and taken many paid and volunteer plant walks over the years.
